If you haven’t watched the 7 p.m. ‘Sunday Service’ special at Joel Olsteen’s church, you’re missing a treat.
On Sun. Nov. 17th, 2019, Kanye West and his choir performed at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas and the house was packed! Watching the two hour performance, will give you chills.
‘We are stepping out on faith’ was the first song presented by the choir and I couldn’t keep my eyes off the screen. Each moment kept me wanting more.
Over 300,000 people watched the performance on Joel Olsteen Ministries Facebook page and overall the response was positive.
And now the trend, the shift is going to change. Jesus won the victory. Now the greatest artist that [God] ever created is now working for Him,” Kanye West said while talking from the Pulpit at Lakewood Church.
During the morning service, Joel Olsteen welcomed Kanye West in front of his congregation, expressing gratitude for West attending. Afterwards, a Q&A took place. West discussed his transition and some of this thoughts.
Joel O. : Maybe you can speak a little bit on the transition. How are you here today at Lakewood?
*Crowd Laughs and Cheers*
Kanye W. : Well, I know God [has] been calling me for a long time and the devil [has] been distracting me for a long time. When I was at my lowest points, you know God was there with me and sending me visions and inspiring me. And I remember sitting in the hospital at UCLA after having a mental breakdown and there is documentation of me drawing a church and saying, writing… start a church in the middle of Calabasas, and even after that I even went and made the Pablo album. And I said this is a gospel album and I didn’t know how to totally make a gospel album and the Christians who were around to, beaten into submission by society.
He spoke about his upbringing, advertisements on negativity and when people bring up the name Jesus we’re told to be quiet. More of his 11 a.m. speech is in the video below.
The most popular songs included in his gospel remix were:
- Destiny’s Child “Say my name”
- SWV’s “Weak”
I would tell you more, but you should watch the video. What happened toward the end? West and his choir performed “Jesus Walk with Me.” Now that was a treat! Enjoy.
