One phone call changed the life of a New Jersey native who helps produce one of the most successful social media shows.

Screen Shot 2020-05-21 at 10.27.08 AMKareem Brown, an associate producer for the Steve on Watch Facebook show told LookWeAreIncluded.com that giving up was almost an option. Brown, who currently lives in Los Angeles, worked at a bank for almost four years before receiving what he calls an ‘opportunity of a lifetime’ in the television industry.

As a creative writer with the full-time bank job, Brown had to make sacrifices.  He continued to hone his craft, independently, writing plays and producing online content all while hunting for a job in media.  After working at the bank for four years and not getting hired in media, he was ready to back his bags and head back home to New Jersey.

That all changed in two minutes.

Brown heard about a job opening for a Production Assisstant with the Steve Harvey Show on a website called Dream Jobbing.

“I almost didn’t apply, but I said [forget] it 🤷🏾‍♂️ what’s the worse thing that could happen?2hrs later got offered to come in for an interview. An hour after the interview I got the job!” Brown wrote on his Instagram page.

8-Yrs-Ago I moved to LA with a dream. I graduated from film school then tried everything I could to get a job in the industry. Nothing worked! 2 mins before giving up and moving back to Jersey I heard about a site called @dreamjobbing . On the site there was a PA position for the Steve Harvey Talk Show open to apply to. I almost didn’t apply, but I said “fuck it 🤷🏾‍♂️ what’s the worse thing that could happen?” 2hrs later got offered to come in for an interview. An hour after the interview I got the job! This season has been the greatest work experience I’ve had so far. I got a chance to work with the best ppl on the planet. I got inspired to be creative again and I was reminded to never give up on my dreams. Thank you @stevetvshow for giving me a chance when no one else would. It’s been real ✌🏾#madlove

Brown couldn’t believe it.  Just moments before he was about to give up, God intervened and opened the door for a dream opportunity. His journey has been one of a kind, and chapter one is just beginning.

image2When the Steve Harvey show transitioned to the Facebook platform, Brown was promoted from Production Assistant to Executive Assistant for the show’s Executive Producer.   In that role, he was able to learn how to write for “live” television by shadowing and observing experienced show producers.

The story keeps getting better.  Brown received a call from his boss for an Associate Producer job for the Steve on Watch Facebook show.  Now, he’s leveraging what he learned to deliver exciting, creative content to the Facebook audience.

This isn’t Brown’s last chapter.  We can expect to see his name in big lights one day as he continues writing and producing a webinar, independently.
