A Massachusetts-based company is taking education to the next level by facilitating a series of journalism classes for college students via the popular Facebook group, Digital Career Opportunities Worldwide, founded by Kamara Daughtry.
Kristen L. Pope, former NBC Boston Reporter, is the CEO-Founder of Pope Productions LLC., a company geared to help aspiring journalists navigate the broadcast industry. Pope offers an ‘On-Air Academy,’ a course that helps students obtain the master keys to land their first television job. Pope connected with Daughtry through the Facebook group. They immediately formed a partnership to help college students and new journalists desperately seeking additional instruction and coaching.
The Pope Production webinars have featured special guests including:
- Lyndsay Christian, a multimedia talent and host based in Houston (@LynzChristianTV)
- Jade Jackson, an innovative journalist and social media influencer based in Louisiana (@IAMJADEJACKSON)
During the pandemic, Pope Productions, LLC created a trending topic on Twitter via the hashtags #KristenZoom4, #KristenZoom3, etc. Attendees posted key takeaways and positive feedback on social media, which spread like wildfires, thus fueling class enrollment by 50%.
