A rising star is definitely making an impact behind the scenes in journalism.
Mikaela Thomas has been named Digital Content Producer at WSB-TV making a big market jump from North Carolina. Thomas, a graduate from Clayton State University loves all things digital.
She started her career in Augusta, Georgia at WFXG FOX54 as a social media contributor then received a promotion to an Assignment Manager. After spending two years in her hometown, she landed a Digital Editor role at WCNC in Charlotte, NC.
“I have a passion for communication and media studies and I am always striving to reset the finish line in life and within my career. With stronghold skills in journalism, digital content, and social media I consider myself an asset to any team I am apart of. I value continuing education and growing and stretching my talents to cover the needs of my team,” she said.
Now as a Digital Content Producer in the top 10 market she work daily on being an online storyteller tailoring content for social media users.
“I remember when I used to email local news stations in the Augusta area begging them to give me a chance to make an impact in their newsroom! After many no’s and none responses from other stations, Angela Green and Denise Vickers, MBA took a chance on me at WFXG FOX54. From there David Williams pushed my skill level and management skills. After two years in Augusta, GA I took my talents to WCNC Charlotte under Blair Shiff and Carrie (Peterson) Hofmann and grew even more while always being challenged to “level up”. And within 3.5 years of starting in broadcast media, I am so excited to be in Atlanta and at the legendary WSB-TV! God doesn’t play about me & I don’t blame him,” she wrote on LinkedIn.
