NBC Chicago recently announced the promotion of Akemi Harrison to the position of News Director. Harrison has been with NBC Chicago for several years, serving as the Assistant News Director prior to her promotion. She brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously worked as an Executive Producer for WPXI-TV, a News Producer for KTVY, and an EP and Producer for ABC10.

Harrison is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and is a graduate of Tougaloo College in Mississippi. Her dedication to journalism and commitment to promoting diversity in the industry make her an excellent choice for this leadership position.

In her new role, Harrison will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the news operation at NBC Chicago, including editorial content, production, and distribution across multiple platforms. She will work closely with the station’s reporters, producers, and other staff members to ensure that NBC Chicago continues to deliver high-quality, timely, and relevant news coverage to its audience.
